Recovery after a C-Section
by Lori

I am the proud mother of 2 children, ages 6 and 4. I had an emergency C-Section for my first child. Since I was not prepared for a C-Section delivery, I quickly attempted to do more than I should have, as far as my daily activities.
I found that reading books on C-Section deliveries from the library as well as reading online articles was helpful. I am very active, but made sure to give my body proper time to heal.
I think one misconception I had was that the C-Section was not a MAJOR surgery. Well, It definitely WAS!
When I had my second child, I was scheduled for an automatic C-Section. I went into it well prepared. I brought a small pillow from home with me. I used the pillow to keep pressure on my stomach when I was sitting up and moving around. It really helped!
I also took Motrin (I was not breast feeding) for the pain on a regular basis. When I got home I waited at least 6 weeks until I was lifting my heavy grocery bags and other things around the house.
I had minimal scarring. I used the scar cream Mederma. It lessened the outer appearance of the scarring.
These are the things that helped me recover after a c-section.
