Treatment for Chronic Back Pain
by Ms. Ollie D. M.
I have chronic lower back pain. I had an emergency C-section in 1983, vertical cut (Big baby) and a partial hysterectomy performed by a military surgeon who did not honor my wish to cut along the same area.
I realize this is part of the reason why I have back pain. I still have hope.
Shelley, can you suggest anything (except surgery) that I may be able to do to strengthen my abs? I always ask an experts opinion.
Thank you in advance.

Ollie,
I'm sorry to hear about your chronic back pain and
difficulties. I assume you have seen your doctor for
this already, but if not, I recommend you do before
starting any exercise program.
For your lower back pain, check out the page on
Low Back Pain Management. For your situation, I would recommend for strengthening your abs that you start with
my Lower Abdominal Exercises and the Plank if you are able to do it without aggravating your low back pain. If the pain settles down within two hours of doing the exercise, then it's okay to continue. However, if the exercise flares us your symptoms for longer than that, you should discontinue the exercise.

area.
